Tokyo-born, MASASHI NAGADOI, received a B.A. in International Studies and Economics&Business from Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota with International Economics Honor Society (Omicron Delta Epsilon) in 1987, and worked as a management business consultant at Arthur Young International (now Ernst&Young) in Los Angeles before attending UCLA's Graduate Film School.


He completed the Spanish Language and Cultural Program in Guadalajara, Mexico in the Summer of 1985, and then in the Winter of 1986, proceeded to study European arts, focusing on Impressionism and architecture in England and France.

Selected an All-Minnesota Rugby Football team member as scrum-half in 1986 and 1987, he competed in the National Championship in Kentucky in 1986. At UCLA, he was a recipient of the Motion Picture Association of America Award in 1992. He received a M.F.A. in the Spring of 1994.


Since the graduation, MASASHI rapidly took on work and accepted various roles of producer, director, A.D. and production coordinator for television shows, documentaries and commercials for the Japanese and US markets that included top-name talent such as Steven Seagal, Paulina Porizkova, Cameron Diaz, Miyoko Asada, Seiko Matsuda, Naoko Iijima, Ami Suzuki, Chiaki Mukai and Jet Ozaki for clients such as Toyota, Nissan, Nippon Television, Dentsu, Hakuhodo and Nintendo.


His short film, gMoment Cafeh won the Gold Award at Worldfest-Houston (April 1999) and receiving enthusiastic screenings at New York's International Independent Film Festival (September 1999) and New York Japan Society Film Festival (February 2000).

The video & DVD of his first full-length feature, gCruel Gameh (a.k.a. gDeceptionh) was released in December, 2002, and it was aired on Showtime/Movie Channel. At present he is developing several feature-length projects in the U.S. and Japan.


Nagadoi is a partner in the production company Megahertz Pictures. He is also the founder of MAPi Productions, a development company with offices in the Los Angeles and Tokyo.
